Kickboxing employs various striking and blocking techniques to allow defense against an opponent while standing (without going to the ground). Success utilizing this type of fighting is dependent on timing, focus, and tenacity. Tremendous emphasis is put on using the entire body to generate power, in a coordinated effort that results in high impact contact between opponents.
The kickboxing program at Elite has two main divisions. Pure standup application for stand-up competitions, and MMA application for competitions which also utilize grappling. Both of these applications are completely suitable for self-defense in real-life situations.
Punches from Western-style Boxing are utilized, as well as footwork, proper defense, counters, and angles. Kicks from several martial-arts disciplines are used, along with knees, elbows, and clinches, with an emphasis on many techniques found in Muay-Thai Kickboxing. In this class you will learn proper punching, kicking, kneeing, and elbowing techniques. We will teach you proper stance, footwork, and how to create angles. You will also learn how to defend yourself against all types of striking attacks, and how to counter your opponents attack. This program is excellent if you are looking to get in shape, work on your cardio and endurance.
